  • Kievan Rus' 882 - 1240



    Kievan Rus peaked in the 10th and 11th centuries under Vladimir I and Yaroslav, becoming eastern Europe’s chief political and cultural center.  It prospered because it controlled all of the major Eastern European trade routes. In the 11th century, Kyivan Rus' was, geographically, the largest state in Europe.
