In 1710, Ukrainian Hetman Pylyp Orlyk introduced “Pacts and Constitutions of Rights and Freedoms of the Zaporizhian Host. The first constitution which outlined the separation of powers, well before the publication of Montesquieu's Spirit of the Laws in 1748. Some researchers believe that this document is one of the world’s first constitutions.
